Lessons learned from Ridley coaching icon Joe McNicholas ingrained in players’ memories

Delaware County lost a coaching icon Tuesday in Joe McNicholas, who turned Ridley High into a state football power. He was 91.
Coach McNick, as he was known throughout the Ridley community, guided the Green Raiders to an epic 226-28-3 record from 1973 to 1996. That run included 10 straight Central League championships, a 47-game win streak and respect from all who played for and against his teams. His 88.5 percent win percentage is the highest of any established high school football coach in Pennsylvania and the eighth-best in the country, according to Max Preps.
